The Mitchell’s
House of Country
The Mitchell’s House of Country is an invitation to sit down, lean in, and learn from a show homegrown in Aotearoa New Zealand’s country music capital. Led by Gore’s award-winning sisters Jenny, Maegan and Nicola Mitchell and their classic country loving Dad, Ron Mitchell, the Mitchell whānau invite you to experience country music the way they’ve always known it – up close, honest, and full of soul. Country music in Aotearoa is Tami Neilson’s fierce gender equality anthems, the Howard Morrison Quartet & the many other Māori show bands of the 50s - 80s, the Topp Twins Dame Lynda & Jools singing for marriage equality & it’s Gore’s harmony filled Mitchell family.
Featuring interviews from Capital of Country Music; a documentary (never seen outside of Gore) produced by Jenny Mitchell & Dunedin based filmmakers Scrambler - chronicling the 50 year history of country music in Gore. Click here to watch the documentary trailer.
Everyone’s welcome in The Mitchell’s House of Country - where stories are shared, songs are passed down, and the door is always open. Every show will feature unique special guests, hand selected for each individual audience & location.

Know a farm that could host us?
The House of High Country is a debuting this Saturday 7 March at a farm in Kingston, Southland.
The show will follow a similar form to the House of Country - though it will be on a farm, feature a local opening act + include the Give-Back-BBQ, the first BBQ will be donating all proceeds to Southland Women’s Refuge.
If your festival is looking for a unique, rural night out to add to the calendar, let’s chat!
